Sports day and “The Barnardo’s Big Toddle”

Big Robin's Nursery Stafford host an annual sport days, however this year it was held in conjunction with the Barnardo’s Big Toddle. The pirate themed day saw nursery children entering the sports day races in their best pirate attire. Children competed in the sack race, egg and spoon and 15 meter dash. It was great to see parents and grandparents cheering the children on. As a reward for the children’s efforts a magical show was enjoyed by all – as the level of noise and participation indicated. We were also joined by a local farmer, who brought along his tractor for the children, parents, grandparents and staff to appreciate. A Big thank you to all children who joined in the fun with the staff at Big Robin's Nursery. Thank you all for your effort and support. The Barnardo’s Big Toddle was an amazing success with the children enjoying the pirate adventure around the garden, while raising £661.00 for a great charity and receiving a medal.

Chickens arrive at nursery this Summer!

To facilitate children’s learning, understanding and care of animals Big Robin's Nursery have welcomed 4 chickens, along with a new home, into the community. All children have been encouraged to touch and stroke the chickens – developing their ability to feel texture, temperature and develop a gentle manner with animals. As a part of introducing the idea of the chickens, the children were asked place stickers next to the breed of chicken they would like to see in the empty home. Each room leader facilitated a discussion to choose a name for a chicken. Billy, Kiev, Betty and Chuck are now happily living in the garden. Each day the children have collected the eggs from the chickens and taken them to kitchen, so far not one egg has been smashed. The fresh eggs are used in daily food preparation, with the favourite being egg sandwiches. These have been enjoyed outside in the garden as a picnic, giving children an awareness of where our food comes from.
